Stream HeySummit talks with HeyStream
HeyStream can be used as the streaming studio for talks you run in HeySummit. This article explains how to stream a HeySummit talk with HeyStream, what attendees will experience, and what’s managed in HeySummit vs HeyStream.
Before you start
You need a HeySummit Success plan account (HeyStream Launch access is included with this plan).
You’ll need permission to edit the event and talks in HeySummit.
Set HeyStream as the streaming provider in HeySummit
You do not need a separate HeyStream account to stream talks from HeySummit.
In HeySummit, open your event.
Open the talk you want to stream.
In the talk streaming settings, choose HeyStream as the streaming provider.
Save your changes.
Once HeyStream is selected for a talk, HeySummit will handle the setup needed to stream that talk via HeyStream.
What happens when you stream a HeySummit talk via HeyStream
When you enable HeyStream for a talk in HeySummit, HeySummit uses HeyStream to power the studio for that talk.
From the attendee’s perspective, the live stream (and replay, if enabled) appears inside HeySummit on the talk page—just like any other streaming provider embed.
Where you manage things (important)
In this workflow, the event is still a HeySummit event. HeySummit stays the source of truth, which means:
Event and talk details (title, times, speakers, attendee lists) are managed in HeySummit.
The attendee experience (registration, talk pages, and embeds) is managed in HeySummit.
CRM, analytics, exports, and attendee management for the event are handled in HeySummit.
If you want full access to HeyStream features (CRM, insights, outbound, and advanced workspace controls), you’ll need a HeyStream subscription and a dedicated HeyStream workspace.
Where to do common tasks
Create or edit an event: HeySummit
Add or update talks and speakers: HeySummit
Manage registrations and attendees: HeySummit
Start the studio for a talk: HeySummit (opens the HeyStream studio for that talk)
Access HeyStream CRM, insights, and outbound features: a dedicated HeyStream workspace on a HeyStream subscription
Troubleshooting
I don’t see HeyStream as a streaming option in HeySummit
Confirm your HeySummit account is on the Success plan.
Confirm you have permission to manage the event and talks.
I want to see HeySummit-managed workspaces inside HeyStream
